5 Days Game and Birding Safari
Akagera national park is the only savanah national park in Rwanda but also it is the birding capital of the country, booking a tour to this park will have you enjoy a mixture of wildlife, rivers, nature walks and birdwatching. On the boat rides you get to view large schools of hippos, crocodiles and various bird species.
SAMPLE ITINERY
Day 1: Arrival to Kigali
On arrival into the Rwanda’s capital Kigali, you will see firsthand this fast growing city, a drive through it provides you an opportunity to view one of the cleanest cities in Africa. Meet and greet with your tour guide and then transfer to your hotel.
We stay overnight at the Retreat Kigali.
Day 2: Kigali - Akagera national park
Delicious breakfast at 9am the hotel and then transfer to Akagera national park, the park lies in eastern Rwanda, boarding the republic of Tanzania. It is an open savanah national park characterized by woodland, swamps, low mountains and savannah. The varied terrain is home to a variety of wildlife including leopards, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions and hundreds of bird species, such as the rare shoebill stork. In the southern part of the park, vast Lake Ihema is home to hippos and crocodiles.
The national park is also a birding capital of Rwanda with over 500 bird species. Welcome remarks upon arrival the park and then check in at your accommodation your home for the next 3 nights.
Lunch at the lodge followed by a boat ride on which you may view large
schools of hippos, crocodiles and various bird species.

Day 3: Game drives
Breakfast at the hotel and then together with a ranger guide head out for full day game drives in this amazing national park!

Day 4: It's time to watch some birds!

out for bird watching expedition, the park is home to over 500 bird species making It the birders capital of Rwanda with the highest concentration of birds in the country.

Nyungwe presents a unique phenomenon in primate tourism due to its huge concentrations of habituated primates whose troops can include 400 to 500 individuals! As one of the most important ornithological hubs in Rwanda, the park is also home to almost 300 species of birds, making it a bird watcher's paradise!
Along the way, we will stop at the new Visitor's Interpretive Centre to orient you to this magnificient park and then it's off to your hotel to check-in and have a relaxing lunch. The afternoon will be spent trekking to the Colobus Monkeys. You will hike through lush forests, endless, green tea fields and take in the stunning views of your surroundings.
Day 5: Akagera NP- KIGALI
Breakfast at the lodge followed by a morning of relaxation and then
shortly after transfer back to Kigali or the airport depending on your flight time.
