SAMPLE ITINERY

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe, Uganda

Arrival in Entebbe
The city is the original capital of Uganda and it is the official gateway to Uganda, Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport (EBB), you will be met by your guide and transferred to your accommodation in Entebbe. Depending on your arrival time, you might have the opportunity to explore the town or relax at your hotel.


Entebbe City Tour (Optional)
If time allows, take a brief city tour of Entebbe. Visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, visit Ngamba Island for a chimps expedition tour or take a stroll along the shores of Lake Victoria to enjoy the serene environment.


Accommodation
Spend the night at a comfortable hotel in Entebbe, preparing for your upcoming primate adventure in Bwindi.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

 

Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After an early breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, known for its dense forest and high mountain peaks. The drive from Entebbe to Bwindi takes approximately 8-10 hours, passing through picturesque landscapes and rural villages.


Arrival and Relaxation
Upon arrival in Bwindi, check into your lodge or camp near the park. Relax and enjoy dinner as you prepare for your gorilla trekking experience the following day.

Choose from a range of lodges and camps near Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Each offers a unique experience with excellent views and access to the park.


 

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Gorilla Trekking
After an early breakfast, pre-gorilla trekking formalities and then set out for your gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The trek through the forest can be challenging, but the reward of encountering these majestic primates up close is unparalleled. The trek lasts several hours, depending on the location of the gorilla
family.


Return and Relaxation

After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch. Spend the afternoon reflecting on your extraordinary encounter with the gorillas or possible visit to the local communities surrounding the national park.


Evening Relaxation
Enjoy dinner and relax at your lodge or camp. Share stories from your trek with fellow travellers and unwind after an exciting day.

Day 4: Transfer to Kigali and Fly to Arusha, Tanzania

Transfer to Kigali
After breakfast, transfer to Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. The drive takes approximately 3-4 hours, providing a final glimpse of Rwanda’s scenic beauty.


Fly to Arusha
In the afternoon, board a flight from Kigali International Airport (KGL) to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in Tanzania. The flight typically takes around 1.5 hours. Upon arrival, you’ll be met by our Rwanda Eco- Tours Tanzanian guide and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha.

Spend the night in Arusha, preparing for your safari adventure in Tanzania.

 

Day 5: Transfer to Tarangire National Park
Journey to Tarangire National Park. After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. The drive from Arusha to Tarangire takes approximately 2 hours.


Afternoon Game Drive
Arrive in Tarangire and embark on an afternoon game drive. The park’s diverse landscapes, including riverine forests and swamps, offer excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Look out for elephants, lions, giraffes, and various bird species.


Accommodation
Choose from a range of accommodation options in Tarangire, from luxurious lodges to comfortable tented camps. Enjoy dinner and unwind after your game drive.


Day 6: Transfer to Serengeti National Park

Journey to Serengeti National Park. After breakfast, transfer to Serengeti National Park, upon arrival you will go through pre- activity briefing, the park is one of Tanzania’s most famous wildlife destinations. The drive takes you through the scenic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley.


Afternoon Game Drive
Arrive in Serengeti and embark on an afternoon game drive. The park’s endless plains are renowned for their incredible wildlife, including the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. Depending on the season, you might witness the Great Migration, one of nature’s most spectacular events.


Accommodation
Serengeti offers a variety of accommodation options, from luxurious lodges to tented camps. Many lodges provide excellent wildlife viewing opportunities right from your doorstep.


Day 7: Full Day Safari in Serengeti National Park


Morning Game Drive
Start your day with an early morning game drive to explore different areas of Serengeti, such as the Central Serengeti’s Seronera Valley and the Southern Serengeti.


Picnic Lunch
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, allowing you to stay out and maximise your game viewing time.


Afternoon Game Drive
Continue your exploration of Serengeti with an afternoon game drive. The park’s diverse ecosystems and abundant wildlife make for an unforgettable safari experience.


Return to Accommodation
Return to your lodge or camp in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

 

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater Excursion and Departure
 

Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its remarkable biodiversity. The drive includes scenic views of the highlands and the caldera’s lush landscapes.


Game Drive in Ngorongoro Crater
Descend into the crater for a day of game viewing. The crater floor is home to a dense population of wildlife, including elephants, lions, buffaloes, and rhinos. Enjoy a picnic lunch within the crater and take in the stunning scenery.


Return to Arusha and Departure
After your game drive, return to Arusha for your departure flight. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for last-minute shopping or exploring Arusha before heading to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey.

when can I go?

Please note that you can visit the gorillas all year round however the best time for
gorilla trekking in Uganda is during the dry seasons from June to September and
December to February.

 

For Tanzania, the dry season (June to October) is ideal for
game viewing, while the wet season (November to May) offers lush landscapes and
fewer crowds.

How much does the gorilla permit cost?

We all love gorillas, don't we? In fact, gorilla permits are extremely popular and tend to sell out quickly.
 
To ensure you don't miss out, we kindly request an overall 50% deposit payment at time of booking and balance to be paid at least 40 days prior to the trip start date. Thank you for your understanding:

The charge per person ($50) for the Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village visit goes directly to the Local Community Trust Fund, which supports community projects to increase both incentives for conservation and linkages to community socio-economic development.
