6 Days Rwanda Primates and Tanzania Wildlife Safaris: A Dual Adventure
This safari blends the best of Rwanda’s primate encounters with the incredible wildlife in Tanzania providing with an opportunity to enjoy best of both worlds.
The itinerary includes a gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park, followed by a journey to Tanzania for game drives in Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.
Each destination offers a unique experience, showcasing the diverse wildlife and landscapes of East Africa.
SAMPLE ITINERY
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali, Rwanda

Arrival
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport (KGL) Rwanda’s current official gateway, you’ll be met by your guide and transferred to your accommodation in Kigali.
Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to explore Kigali, known for its cleanliness, vibrant culture, and friendly locals.
Kigali City Tour
If time permits, enjoy a city tour of Kigali. Visit sites such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, which provides a poignant insight into Rwanda’s history, and explore local markets for possible local shopping experience and eateries to get a taste of Rwandan culture.
Accommodation
Spend the night at a comfortable hotel in Kigali, preparing for your upcoming primate adventure in Volcanoes National Park.

Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park and Gorilla Trekking
Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
4:30am, along with packed breakfast, embark on an amazing drive to Volcanoes National Park, located approximately 2.5 hours from Kigali. The journey offers stunning views of the Rwandan countryside, including terraced hills and lush landscapes.
Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival at Volcanoes National Park, you’ll attend a briefing before setting out for your gorilla trek. Guided by experienced trackers, you’ll venture into the dense rainforest to encounter one of the world’s most endangered species—the mountain gorilla. The trek can be challenging, but the reward of seeing these majestic creatures up close is well worth the effort.
Return to Kigali or Overnight in Ruhengeri
After the trek, return to Kigali for the night or stay in a lodge near Volcanoes National Park for a more immersive experience. Enjoy a relaxing evening reflecting on your unforgettable encounter with the gorillas.

Day 3: Transfer to Tanzania and Arrival in Arusha

Return to Kigali and Fly to Arusha
After breakfast, transfer back to Kigali International Airport for your flight to Arusha, Tanzania. The flight typically takes around 1.5 hours, providing beautiful aerial views of East Africa’s landscapes.
Arrival in Arusha
Upon arrival in Arusha, you’ll be met by your Tanzanian guide and transferred to your accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, you might have the opportunity to explore Arusha or relax at your lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to Tarangire National Park

Journey to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, embark on a drive to Tarangire National Park. Known for its large elephant herds and distinctive baobab trees, Tarangire offers a unique safari experience. The drive from Arusha to Tarangire takes approximately 2 hours.
Afternoon Game Drive
Upon arrival, enjoy an afternoon game drive in Tarangire. The park’s diverse landscapes, including riverine forests and swamps, provide excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Look out for elephants, lions, giraffes, and various bird species.

Accommodation options in Tarangire range from luxurious lodges to comfortable tented camps. Each offers a unique safari experience with excellent amenities and opportunities for wildlife viewing.

Day 5: Transfer to Serengeti National Park
Journey to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, transfer to Serengeti National Park, one of Tanzania’s most famous wildlife destinations. The drive takes you through the scenic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley and offers excellent opportunities for wildlife sightings along the way.
Afternoon Game Drive
Arrive in Serengeti and embark on an afternoon game drive. The park’s endless plains are renowned for their incredible wildlife, including the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. Depending on the season, you might witness the Great Migration, one of nature’s most spectacular events.
Accommodation
Serengeti offers a range of accommodation options, from luxurious lodges to tented camps. Many lodges are strategically located to provide excellent wildlife viewing right from your doorstep.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Excursion and Departure
Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its remarkable biodiversity. The drive includes scenic views of the highlands and the caldera’s lush landscapes.
Game Drive in Ngorongoro Crater
Descend into the crater for a day of game viewing. The crater floor is home to a dense population of wildlife, including elephants, lions, buffaloes, and rhinos. Enjoy a picnic lunch within the crater and take in the stunning scenery.
Return to Arusha and Departure
After your game drive, return to Arusha for your departure flight. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for last-minute shopping or exploring Arusha before heading to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey.

when can I go?
Please note that you can visit the gorillas all year round however the best time for
gorilla trekking in RWANDA is during the dry seasons from June to September and
December to February.
For Tanzania, the dry season (June to October) is ideal for
game viewing, while the wet season (November to May) offers lush landscapes and
fewer crowds.

How much does the gorilla permit cost?
We all love gorillas, don't we? In fact, gorilla permits are extremely popular and tend to sell out quickly.
To ensure you don't miss out, we kindly request an overall 50% deposit payment at time of booking and balance to be paid at least 40 days prior to the trip start date. Thank you for your understanding!
